The Hazard Abatement Board awards grants for programs that provide occupational safety and health training for public and private employers, labor organizations, educational institutions, non-profit organizations and trade associations. Eligible programs must train and educate workers, supervisors and/or employers and must promote workplace accident and injury prevention. The Board also administers Capital Abatement Program grants to public employers. These grants cover 75% of the cost of capital projects necessary to correct workplace hazards cited by the Public Employee Safety and Health Bureau (PESH) or where recommended in a consultation report. Additionally, the Board may recommend safety and health standards in accordance with the State Labor Law.

OSHA awards grants to nonprofit organizations on a competitive basis through its Susan Harwood Training Grant Program. Grants are awarded to provide training and education programs for employers and employees on the recognition, avoidance, and prevention of safety and health hazards in their workplaces. OSHA selects the safety and health topics and holds a national competition to award grants. Last year $10.1 Million was awarded.

For UUP members, the Dr. Herbert N. Wright Memorial Safety and Health Training Award Program Provides safety and health and environmental training that enables employees to refine or develop skills to increase job effectiveness.
Also UUP - The Campus Grants Program also provides funding for initiatives related to safety and health or environmental training.
